gras almost banned in California! - California's foie gras legislation
has passed the Assembly floor by a wide margin! This is history
in the making — though several countries around the world have
banned force-feeding fowl, this is the first time this type of legislation
has made it this far in the U.S. The bill makes the practice of
force-feeding ducks and geese illegal by 2012, and it also bans
the sale of the cruel product. Now it's up to Gov. Schwarzenegger

During
natural molting a female bird stops laying eggs. Her
energies are needed to grow new feathers. Egg
producers practice "forced molting." They starve their hens of all
food for up to 2 weeks to control egg laying and prices.
